Detail & Description

Hotel pictures

Bathed by the waters of lovely Banderas bay and sheltered by the imposing Sierra Madre is Nuevo Vallarta, on the Nayarit Riviera, one of the most prized tourist destinations of Mexico. Besides excellent beaches and aquatic sports, this city lets you experience a unique natural environment and come into contact with dolphins, whales and sea turtles.

At this destination, you'll find the Hotel Riu Jalisco, the Hotel Riu Vallarta and the Hotel Riu Palace Pacifico, which offer premier facilities, the best entertainment and exquisite 24-hour all-inclusive service to make your holiday unforgettable. And, these hotels are all located in Playa Flamingos, an ideal place for relaxing or practising the top aquatic sports.

Nature and heavenly beaches

Very near Nuevo Vallarta, you'll find numerous natural sites that will amaze you with their beauty. In Yelapa you'll discover an enchanting beach with paths leading into the jungle where you can enjoy the exuberant vegetation. You can also go to the nearby Islas Marietas National Park, a marvellous protected natural area with restricted access, where you can visit its famous hidden beach. If you enjoy nature, Nuevo Vallarta is the perfect place for observing the typical behaviours of certain animals up close. We suggest you take one of the boats that depart from the port in search of whales and dolphins swimming in their natural habitat, or arrange an excursion to see a crocodile reserve or a turtle release area.

Discover the best of Nuevo Vallarta

Nuevo Vallarta has hidden spots that you can't miss. We recommend visiting the Malecón, a lovely sea promenade where you can enjoy a series of beautiful sculptures and examples of the colonial architecture from the era when this territory was first urbanised. If you go into the centre of the city, you'll find numerous shops and beautiful landmarks like the Iglesia de Guadalupe church. We also suggest you visit some of the places near Nuevo Vallarta, like Rio Cuale island and the traditional villages of Bucerías and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

Gastronomy in Nuevo Vallarta

As in most of the country, fish and seafood are abundant in the cuisine of Nuevo Vallarta. You'll get to try delicious dishes like pescado zarandeado, oysters in soup or enchiladas, and fish smoked with mangrove wood. We also recommend you try the shrimp in all its versions: 'a la tecualeña', breaded, with meatballs, and spiced. And for dessert, you'll find delicacies like cajeta de mango, cuala and coyules enmielados, amongst many other varieties.

Playa Los Flamingos:

An endless beach with coconut palms that reach almost to the water's edge, far from the bustle of the crowds but with the best amenities for enjoying your holiday. The three RIU hotels are located in this privileged place.

Playa Las Caletas:

This place, which can only be reached by sea, was the private refuge of film director John Huston, who considered it one of the most beautiful places on earth. The beach is ideal for snorkelling, swimming or simply enjoying this tropical paradise.

Islas Marietas National Park:

A protected natural area with restricted access where you can visit its famous hidden beach. It's the perfect place to enjoy a day of eco-tourism.
